We feel that liquid lime has been marketed wrong from the get go. Fake news and marketing has overtaken the truth about liquid lime and it's purpose, and competitors have promised things that liquid lime is not capable of doing! Our mission is to make available the information and research we have and have gathered from countless experts in this field, along with our own testing.
Some Quick Facts:
- Any liquid lime is not a direct replacement for a granular lime for long-term soil corrections. An Ag-lime or pelletized lime plan is still highly recommended to correct acidic soil long term. Liquid lime corrects quickly but needs applied annually.
- Liquid Calcium Carbonate is more bio-available than any granular lime, it goes to work almost immediately and provides critical nutrients for the remaining growing season.
- There are two common options for liquid lime on the market. Liquid lime derived from Calcium Carbonate or Calcium Chloride. Numerous university studies have been done on Calcium Chloride and the overwhelming conclusion is that it CANNOT change soil pH. Calcium Chloride is typically derived from a salt brine solution which can actually add salinity to the soil and prohibit the growth of ANY organic materials.
- A soil testing and ag-lime application schedule should still apply to your soil amendment plans. Liquid lime works great, and serves an undeniable purpose, but it isn't a cure-all.
